"Flying Swan" for oboe and piano captures the elegance of a Muay Thai dance move that mimics the fluid motion of a swan. The composition connects the oboe's clear, penetrating color with the Pi Chawa, adapting melodic style from the "Sarama" music that accompanies the pre-fight ritual. Lyrical opening lines suggest the swan's gentle rise, more dynamic middle passages evoke vigorous flight, and the returning theme brings a serene conclusion. The piano provides a supportive harmonic setting for a work that bridges Eastern and Western musical traditions.
